چکیده

Abstract Background and Aims Low bone mass is common in malnourished patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) can lead to higher risk of fractures. Elderly CKD have the same factors for protein energy wasting, sarcopenia, osteoporosis. We attempted investigate an association between phase angle (PhA) mineral density (BMD) dialysis naïve stage 5 CKD, identify a statistical relationship PhA age that affects density. Method Bio-impedance spectroscopy evaluating body composition dual X-ray absorptiometry determining BMD were simultaneously performed 167 consecutive (age: 59.65 ± 13.98 years; women: 40.1%). Two-way analysis variance (ANOVA) was conducted assess potential interaction effect two group (young elderly group) on femoral neck (FN-BMD). Results Our results showed independently associated both FN-BMD T-score multiple linear regressions analyses. A significant found two-way ANOVA (P = 0.028). Average values first second tertiles young than group, whereas had third average. Conclusion advanced-stage identified current study. The level different patients. Higher levels may protective effects health seem be important determinant BMD.

Bone mineral density in patients with femoral neck fractures.

BACKGROUND [corrected] By providing essential information regarding bone mineral density (BMD), Densitometry can predict the mechanical resistance of bone tissue and the risk of fractures. However, fractures frequently occur in the femoral cervix and the spine before the loss of BMD reaches the densitometric threshold of osteoporosis. MATERIAL AND METHODS We studied 46 patients with total hip...

Predictors of bone mineral density in dialyzed and non-dialyzed patients with chronic kidney disease.

In this study, we assessed predictors of bone mineral density (BMD) in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients with declining renal function. Among the 106 patients enrolled, 26 were treated with peritoneal dialysis [PD: 15 women; age; 55.7 +/- 17.7 years; dialysis vintage: 16.6 months (range: 6.3 - 45.5 months)]; 60, with hemodialysis [HD: 26 women; age: 54.8 +/- 15.3 years; dialysis vintage: 36...

[Bone mineral density in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].

AIM To study of bone mineral density (BMD) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). SUBJECTS AND METHODS 104 patients with COPD were examined. A study group comprised men with a long smoking history. BMD of the lumbar spine in the frontal view and that of the proximal femur (the neck, Ward's area, greater trochanter) were studied by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry using...
